FUNDAMENTALS
Chaos is king. The natural state of things is disorder and you have you decide how much you can deal with. Control can only go so far and doing too much of it is unhealthy. A lot of people break because they are trying to control things that they can't really control.
Nature has already set examples. There's no need to reinvent things when it's already been done so take inspiration by what's already around. This happens more often than you think because we are part of nature.
Keep it simple. One of my mantras is to keep things simple. Managing a few simple things should be easier than having to deal with a lot of complicated things. As you evolve, you can manage to deal with a few complicated things, and then finally when you are ready, you can tackle a lot of complicated things. A lot of people break because they are trying to do more than they are capable of doing. This segues into the next fundamental.
Levels. Breaking things down into chunks is a good way to tackle things. You don't run a marathon with out running shorter distances first. What is a level? I'd call it a kind of sustainable resting zone of operation. To jump levels, you'll need to invest a significant amount of effort to check off the requirements of the next level for that to be sustainable.
CREATING MODELS FOR LIVING
I've created a concept called the Shapes Of Life. There's the resource square, the health triangle, and the circle of possibilities.
Health. If you don't have a healthy body, mind, and spirit, it's going to be difficult to do anything. Everybody could be a master of themselves because you spend the most time with yourself. The key to keeping things balanced is variety. Surrounding yourself with a variety keeps things interesting and keeps you grounded with perspective. e.g. Food wise, eating a rainbow of colors keeps micro nutrients in check. Making a variety of drinks besides water keeps you hydrated. I know I hate drinking just plain water myself so I became a tea afficionado. The other parts of the health triangle are exercise and sleep/recovery which are more intermediate topics.
Resource management. The square shape is the resource square which includes, Time, Money, Knowledge, and Energy. Money and Knowledge you can gain and there's no top limit. Time you lose so you can only be efficient about it. Energy is a more esoteric topic but it's kind of like your ability to do things mentally/physically. Think of it like discipline, motivation, etc.
Repetition. One circle of possibility is with the cycle of resources. Think of this as going around the circle. You can start anywhere in the cycle e.g. You could feel motivated -> to make time -> to learn something -> which could be used to make money. And the cycle could repeat. This isn't the only repetition there is in life. You can try something, fail, then try again.
Boundaries. Another circle of possibility can be with boundaries. Think of this as going in or out of the circle. You can operate in your comfort zone or push yourself beyond your boundary. Other people and unforeseen circumstances can also push your boundaries. The sizes of a circle can change. A larger circle represent growth which is another metaphor for integration.
WHAT'S NEXT?
I have a suggested best practices loop that is at fundamental level meaning that even if you go on to more intermediate and advanced things, you'd always still do this fundamental loop. Click here to go on to it.
